Plantain curry



Here is another recipe from the kitchen of South India.It has the spicy taste and wonderful fragrance of the spices blended with it.It has the rich thick gravy because of the banana[raw].

Ingredients:

Raw plantain - 1 large
Garlic -5-6 cloves
chilly powder - 1.5tsp
turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Tamarind - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder -1/2 tsp
cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Kitchen king masala-1/2 tsp[optional]
mustard -1tsp
dry chillies - 2 large
cumin - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 5-6
salt - 1 tsp[as per taste]
Jaggery /sugar - 1 tsp
Oil -1 tsp

Method:

1.Chop the raw plantains into 1/2 inch pieces and pressure cook them with 1/2 tsp each of salt,turmeric and chilly powder plus tamarind.
2.Then allow them to cool a bit.Then take half of the cooked plantain and make a course paste out of it.
3.Now add jaggery and remaining masala's and add enough water and bring to aboil and reduce the ehat and allow it to cook properly by simmering.By doing this all the flavours will be properly absorbed by the plantain.
4.Take oil in a pan add mustard,cumin and dry chillies to it when splutters add curry leave s and give a toss and add this to the curry .
5.Then take little oil in the same pan and add chopped pealed garlic and fry till they turn golden brown.
6.Add this also to the mixture.Then stir properly and bring to a boil by increaasing the heat and cook for 5 mins.
7.Serve hot with rice and jack fruit paapad at the side.Believe me friends this will taste awesome.Enjoy...
